I talked to my parents about the whole dying with Kool-Aid thing. BIG MISTAKE!!!!!! Now they're trying to get all involved in my knitting and telling me what I can and can't knit. It's like, dude! This is supposed to be my hobby, not yours. They said I couldn't dye the yarn because It would be just as easy to buy the colors I wanted. But, It would be MINE MY OWN if I dyed it myself. They just aren't creative so they don't understand me. Then, when I suggested the hand-spinning idea, they laughed. I always feel so imprisoned by my parents.

I'm Back!
Hi! I just got back from Gatlinburg on Friday. I came home from the Knitting store a couple hours ago. Oh, and I added a Wist widget to my blog, in case someone wanted to get me something. School starts next Wednesday, precicesly a week. I can't decide if I'm happy or dissapointed to go back. This summer went by too fast. That's probably because they shorten it every year. In kindergarten, that would have been in 2000, we got out late May, and back in on September first. They kick us out mid-June now then shove us back in early August. Oh well, whatcha gonna do? So, I decided that I'm gonna try Hand dyeing my yarn with Kool-aid. Maybe even spinning my yarn from wool roving with a hand spindle. I got inspired from 2 things. The first is, when I first walked into the knitting store I returned from recently, I was mezmerised by the beautifully colored hand-dyed yarn they had. But, it was ridiculously priced. It was like, 35 bucks for a half ounce skein of the stuff. The other reason is after recently watching the I Would Dye For You episode of The Knitty Gritty, I thought it would be a great idea. I decided to start with the Kool-Aid because I love the bright colors, and I don't want to do acidic dying around my 3 year old brother. I learned how to do fair-isle yesterday, so, being a huge Gwen Stefani fan, I wrote up my own Wind It Up Key Pattern. You could incorperate the design into anything, so here's the chart.
